From Overwhelm to "Eff Yes life is great!"

I have a confession to make…

I’ve been really struggling. My schedule got all but the best of me over the last 6 months and my self-care really started to lack. As a result of this my depression crept in like a cold frost on a winter’s morning, it seeped into every corner of my life until it all became unbearable and I broke down. I’m not proud to admit it but I have been in this place in the past and I know who the culprit is, well yes me but the reason is stress.

Stress is a horrible little fella. He raises your blood pressure, causes you to put on weight or lose it (bio-individuality right!), he causes hormone imbalances in the body, he signals to the body that you are in survival mode and in imminent danger and therefore every organ and cell in your body is on high alert ready to help you flee at a moment’s notice so you cannot sleep or relax, you have tired achy muscles, you can’t think clearly- need I go on? Basically everything turns to shit right?

Well this was the hell I was living in a few months ago. Everything got way to hard, nothing was going to plan, relationships were falling apart all over the place, including my own with myself. In the past it took me years to get of this crazy merry-go-round but thankfully I have mastered the secret to how to come back to me, get grounded and get off that damn nasty merry-go-round and back to brilliant, shining, happiness and health. I’m going to share my secrets below with you today…

5 steps to get you from stress to your best

Stop. Hammer time.

My first recommendation is to stop. Stop fighting. Stop worrying. Stop thinking about all the worries, deadlines, problems, arguments etc. that are stressing you the hell out because they are not going your way. Just stop! Trust me, just surrender to it all- say out loud “I give up right now” and just wait and see the magic the universe is gonna weave for you baby!

Indulge in some self-care.

You deserve yourself a break gorgeous. It’s time to get away and plug into your infinite supply of wisdom, love and support and the only way you are gonna connect in right now is to do something that you love and that your body and soul is acheing for you to do. Maybe this is bush walking in nature, getting a massage, doing something crazy like sky diving, or booking a weekend away. Whatever it is there needs to be minimal people with you on this journey as you need to unlock the key to your inner voice- you don’t need to be worrying about what everyone else is doing/feeling/complaining/struggling with right now.

Start a spiritual practice.

This is a big one sweet pea. I don’t want you to get all freaked out on me and think this means you have to have your ass glued to a pillow om-ing your brains out until you reach enlightenment but you gotta start some sort of practice that creates stillness in your mind, that helps you connect with your inner strength, intuition and love.

I’ll let you in on a little secret honey, I haven’t been able to meditate for months. I know what you are thinking and I know all the benefits of meditation too but the whole idea of sitting still conjured up feelings of anxiety as I was so wired that I just couldn’t sit still so I started running. OMG where has this been all my life! There is no way I can worry while I’m running as I am so centred and connected with my body making sure I’m breathing deeply, feeling my body and ensuring it likes the pace I am doing, plus observing the amazing scenery around me (I am truly blessed I live in suburban paradise). Plus the endorphins and pride of accomplishment after a run are better than any drug I know of!

So give it a try honey, find something that is the right fit for you and plug in.

Spend time with people who lift you up.

Right now there is no room in your life for anybody but the peeps who lift you up and help you shine your brilliant light. You are in need of some serious belly-laughs, intoxicating cuddles and heart swelling conversations. It doesn't matter if these friends or family are near or far, set a date to see them in person, on the phone or via Skype. You need this right now and they love you and will just adore the chance to be there supporting you for a change. If you don't have anyone in your life that does this for you, enlist a coach, they will be your personal cheerleader, inspiring you and lifting you up.

Nourish your body with delicious nutritious food.

How can your body feel good if you are feeding it, well shit, basically? Sorry. Your body thrives, grows and becomes energised from fresh, wholesome, alive foods. So indulge yourself with amazingly delicious, guilt free meals. There are so many healthy restaurants popping up these days, go try one or if you don’t have one nearby, make your own! My favourite site right now is TheHealthy Chef. Her food is super delicious, easy to make and quick. Go on sweetheart be adventurous and give your body all the love and kindness it needs and deserves to calm your nerves and become strong, healthy and vibrant.

Well there you have it- my secrets from overwhelm to "Eff yes, Life is great!" and getting your mojo back. I know they are super easy and seem straight forward and that’s cause they are! We just seem to forget, or neglect, to give ourselves the love and care that we need.

I just want to point out right now that all of the above are things you must give to yourself- no one can do these things for you- you are the most important person in your self-care start playing an active role in it and your life will shine and be vibrant I promise. I know this because I’ve had to learn the hard way.

If you need some extra help with implementing any of these or want some additional tips, please contact me. And if you need a personal cheerleader, someone who’s got your back and is in your corner, holding your hand, helping you find your strength and resilience to live the very best life you possibly can, than I’d love to work with you. I currently have one-on-one coaching spots available.

Much love, health and happiness to your always,

I Miss You!

Hi beautiful people! Todays post is just a really quick one to check in and let you all know that I am still alive and well, just SUPER busy (as we all seem to be at the moment!). Due to the pressures of uni life and other commitments I have had to step away from this little space for a bit so that I can deal with matters at hand. During this time I have really had to ramp up my self care and self love practices. So if you to are feeling under-the-pump with deadlines and a zillion commitments flying at you, make sure you too are looking after yourself as if you are not in 100% supreme condition you will not have the energy to get through this hectic time! I am sending you all so much love and support during this time. Thank you so much for being understanding of me also and putting up with my craziness on the vlog (I think I'm funny!). Can't wait to start chatting again soon.

Much love, health and happiness always,

Product Review: Chi Coconut Water

Coconut water is one of my favourite things to drink and is a staple in our house hold, we buy it by the litre. You have proberbly heard a lot about it of late as many more retailers are now stocking it and there are a lot more companies manufactoring it. I was lucky to recently receive a sample of Chi Coconut water.

It was absolutely delicious as expected. The thing that I liked about Chi Coconut water was the packaging, a lot of others need to be drunk with a straw but with the screw top on the Chi you can sip it at your leasure or put it back in the fridge and finish it later. Another thing I like about Chi is that it is quite reasonably priced. They have a great online store also where you can buy it and get a whole case delivered straight to your door.

The reason I love coconut water is for its nutritional benefits, it is way better for you and tastier than any soft drink or cordial and it can even be added to your summer cocktails to spruce them up a bit and add that coconutty flavour! My husband and I love to use it as an energy drink, we mix it with some green tea, rasberry tea and stevia.

Some of the benefits of coconut water are:

  • It is packed with simple sugar, electrolytes, and minerals to replenish hydration levels within the body
  • Rehydrates the body quicker than water
  • It contains naturally occurring bioactive enzymes. These enzymes help in the digestion and metabolism.
  • Is a very good source of B-complex vitamins, these are needed in the body and can only be sourced from foods.
  • Has a very high amount of potassium which is an electrolyte in the body that helps with hydration. Coconut water actually contains more potassium than a bannana.
  • Contains a small amount of the anti-oxidant Vitamin- C
  • Contains lauric acids which helps to balance our gut flora, and in effect helps promote healthy digestive function and boosts the immune system
These are just some of the wonderful things you will benefit from when you drink this magical drink. It is really important when buying it though that you check that it is 100% coconut water and that it contains no added sugars. You also want to insure that it is in tetra packaging on thick cans as coconut water can be damaged when it is exposed to light. If you can drink it out of the coconut that is even better!

If you are interested in gettting your hands on some of this taty, butrient packed water the lovely fock at Chi Coconut water are offering 10% off and free postage for the month of September. All you have to do is type in SEPT when you order. So get clicking and head on over
